The impact of power loss when renewable energy source is installed in distribution system is investigated. The distribution system is transferred from 115 kV, and 100 MVA into level of laboratory voltage 400 V, 150 VA distribution system converted by per-unit to 400 V, 150 VA using per-unit technique while the renewable source is simulated by using the simulator DC power (or photovoltaic simulator) with micro inverter. To study the characteristics and variation of power loss in distribution model, the size of load, and the location of renewable source are performed. The obtained result from experimental setup has been analyzed in terms of power loss. It can be seen that the distribution system can reduce the power loss when the renewable source is suitably interconnected in the distribution system. © 2016 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
